So glad you made it!

As you probably already noticed, I’m Kathleen, the girl behind The Design Nook.

I thought for my first official blog post I’d start by introducing my family of four and fill you in on how this all happened.

I’m a recovering perfectionist who loves all things interior design + diy and that’s my husband Nelson, he loves all things technology + construction. Those 2 adorable pups with us are Leo + Willow and they complete our family.

why I created the design nook

It was quarantine and as you know, we were all living that ‘stay home’ life. My interior design projects were on hold, so I was doing different things to fill my days…baking, organizing, deep cleaning, and then it hit me, I should be using this time to get my DIY on and finally give myself a bathroom I love. I follow many DIY accounts on instagram + well, when you’re home a lot you constantly find yourself flipping through social media. I was watching all these amazing people do these home projects and they inspired me to start my own DIY project. So, we started our bathroom transformation and the whole process and the final result left me feeling inspired and I couldn’t wait to start my next project.

As a designer, I always get to be part of beautiful home transformations and I was thinking, “I need to do this for myself. I want a house with spaces I love.” With that thought, I realized it was time to be open to new possibilities and to start thinking about what I truly wanted for my future. I love helping clients design their homes and I couldn’t imagine not doing this, but I also found myself loving the whole DIY approach to design and wanted to continue doing these home projects. I have always had a do-it-yourself attitude and a love for all things home, so I decided to combine this with my interior design background and begin a new chapter.
